Position Summary EZARC, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Safety Coordinator to lead safety efforts at our structural steel fabrication facility in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This mid to senior-level position is responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive safety programs, ensuring OSHA compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, and reducing workplace incidents through education, accountability, and prevention strategies. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in fabrication safety and a strong presence on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety protocols consistent with EZARC policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of shop operations, equipment, and tools to identify unsafe conditions and drive corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of all workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop plans to prevent recurrence.
- Complete and submit all post-injury documentation, including First Report of Injury forms and related reports, within required timeframes.
- Notify the company's insurance broker of all recordable or questionable injuries within 24 hours.
- Work with the employee's supervisor to issue disciplinary warnings for safety violations or repeated non-compliance with safety procedures.
- Provide safety training for new shop employees during orientation, including PPE requirements, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, refresher trainings, and safety huddles with fabrication staff.
- Ensure proper and consistent use of PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, face shields, welding gear, and other required gear.
- Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, training logs, and injury documentation.
- Serve as the primary safety contact for the Pleasant Grove shop, including during audits, OSHA visits, and insurance inspections.
- Collaborate with supervisors and foremen to integrate safety into daily work planning and task execution.
- Participate in the company-wide safety committee and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices across all locations.
Qualifications - 3+ years of safety experience in a structural steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards.
- Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- OSHA 30, CHST, or CSP certification preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and influence teams across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in safety reporting systems and documentation best practices.
Work Environment - Primarily based in a fabrication shop setting with exposure to heavy equipment, loud noise, welding, and rigging operations.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move through the shop and around equipment for extended periods.
- Occasional field site visits may be required.
