Job Title: QA Supervisor – 1st Shift (Meat) & 2nd Shift (Plant-Based)

Department: Quality Assurance

Shifts Available:

  • 1st Shift – Meat Division: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift – Plant-Based Division: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Reports To: QA Manager / Quality Assurance Director

Position Summary:

The QA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality assurance operations on their assigned shift and division (Meat or Plant-Based), ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and USDA/FSIS or FDA regulations. This role provides leadership to QA technicians, drives continuous improvement in food quality and safety, and works cross-functionally with production, sanitation, and regulatory teams.

Key Responsibilities (All Shifts):

  • Supervise and coordinate daily QA activities including pre-op inspections, in-process checks, and final product evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and all applicable food safety and quality programs.
  • Lead and train QA technicians in proper testing, documentation, and regulatory compliance procedures.
  • Monitor production processes and enforce corrective actions for deviations in quality, safety, or labeling.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for regulatory or third-party inspections (e.g., USDA, FDA, BRC/SQF).
  • Manage documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness in line with company and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Report on QA performance metrics and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for the QA team.

Shift-Specific Focus:

1st Shift QA Supervisor – Meat Division:

  • Oversee all meat processing QA operations during morning production.
  • Interface with USDA inspectors and ensure all meat-related regulatory requirements are met.
  • Strong knowledge of raw and ready-to-eat (RTE) meat products, temperature control, and microbial risk mitigation.

2nd Shift QA Supervisor – Plant-Based Division:

  • Supervise QA processes for plant-based production, focusing on allergen control and vegan/vegetarian integrity.
  • Work with FDA regulations and plant-based product specifications.
  • Ensure effective sanitation verification and documentation prior to overnight cleaning processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, and regulatory requirements (USDA for meat, FDA for plant-based).
  • Experience with food safety audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in both cold (meat) and standard processing environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • HACCP certification preferred; PCQI, SQF/BRC knowledge a plus.
