Position SummaryThe Chief Medical Officer (CMO) plays a pivotal leadership role in delivering on our mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered, and cost-effective care. The CMO provides clinical direction and partners closely with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership to implement the organization's strategic plan , ensure clinical excellence, and champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight of clinical operations, access to care, patient outcomes, and clinician performance
Ensure a balanced approach to clinician advocacy and organizational goals
Promote a high standard of quality, safety, and compliance across all clinical programs
Champion clinician engagement and well-being , ensuring an efficient, supportive, and productive work environment
Communicate the clinical vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, staff, Board of Directors, and community partners
Evaluate and support provider productivity , address performance concerns, and deliver constructive feedback
Ensure effective use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (Athena preferred), including data tracking and report generation
Collaborate with administrative leaders to align clinical care with organizational finances and strategic planning
Serve as an advocate for health equity , inclusive care, and culturally competent practices
Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited program
Five (5) or more years of experience as a practicing physician
Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in a healthcare delivery setting, preferably in community health
Active or eligible for Massachusetts medical license
Proven leadership capabilities with a results-driven track record of achieving clinical goals
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Athena experience preferred)
High level of business acumen in budgeting, productivity, and strategic planning
Five (5) or more years of clinical leadership experience
Previous experience in community-based or underserved care settings
Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to patient-centered care, inclusion, and organizational integrity
Demonstrated leadership among both clinicians and non-clinicians
Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds
Skilled in constructive feedback, productivity evaluation, and staff development
Strong ethical standards, professionalism, and commitment to public service
Flexibility, sound judgment, and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
