DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Within this role, you will provide career guidance to assist job seekers in making and carrying out career decisions for success in the labor market. You will also assist with identifying suitability for and/or barriers to employment and training. As a Career Advisor, you will provide resources for career assessment and vocational interests and incorporate an understanding of career alternatives and requirements so that appropriate assessment tools, training, and community resources can be utilized. Coordinate and provide direct case management services including assisting the job seeker in developing long and short-term employment goals, creating an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) to reach identified goals, coordinating support and related services with other service providers, tracking the individual's progress toward meeting employment goals, and modifying the IEP as necessary. You will provide intake services, individually and in-group sessions, to job seekers and employers. Responsibilities include developing and conducting workshops, presentations, and orientations to services which may include résumé-writing, interviewing, job searching, networking, and much more! We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to exercise comprehensive independent judgment within the limits of regulations and established policies.   • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Chester.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the Career Advisor Trainee (commonwealth title) training program; or
  • One year of experience interviewing the public to collect and identify customer needs, evaluating eligibility for programs, and researching data to make decisions, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
